Kelly Services® Announces 2016 “Future Scientists Program” Scholarship Recipients

TROY, Mich. – Sept., 26, 2016 – Kelly Services® (Nasdaq: KELYA, KELYB), a global leader in providing workforce solutions, awarded five $1,500 scholarships to college students who are pursuing degrees in science as part of its annual “Future Scientists Program.” The recipients (complete list on Page 2) are enrolled at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, University of Georgia, University of Maryland Baltimore, University of Maryland College Park, and the West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

Through the Future Scientists Program, Kelly Services assists college students across the country with identifying science-related internships that align to each student’s major area of study. The interns are invited to submit a 1,500-word essay about their experience for the opportunity to win a scholarship.

“The program provides us the opportunity to support students’ academic goals and help improve their opportunities for future employment by introducing them to real industry experiences in scientific fields,” said Harvey Yau, senior director and science practice consultant at Kelly Services, and leader of the Future Scientists Program. “Even with the shortage of talent in the science disciplines, experience outside the classroom is still critical to better preparing students to enter the scientific workforce upon graduation.”
In 2016, Kelly placed more than 200 interns at major chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Since the program’s inception in 2000, Kelly has placed more than 7,000 interns on projects in bio manufacturing, quality control, field research studies, biology and biochemistry among others.
